My practice focuses on colour and surface and how they can be applied in paint on a range of surfaces. The work is created using coloured vinyl - matte, gloss, felt and translucent finishes - which is applied to the walls and floor, creating painterly environments for the viewer to become immersed in.

The work responds to the space it is in and you can see how the colour ‘drips’ and spreads within the space. Although the origin of the work comes from digital photographs or surfaces found in real life, its purpose is to create a tactile environment for the viewer.

At present my work is adapting to the restrictions of many UK national lockdowns and so now focuses on the paint more closely.

The works are part of an ongoing series of paintings, 'Feeling Bright Again,’ that sees me reflecting on my time during lockdown and reacting to the new prospect that there may be an end in sight. This series signifies getting my inspiration and motivation back but also the hope that life will get back to normal soon. The works do not focus on the hardships of the past year but are celebrations of bright colour that create a sense of warmth and joy.

I have found this series to really embody the idea of making art accessible to all as I have involved the people in my life in its creation. Each of the works are named by someone close to me in response to what they see in the work that makes the happy and what gives them something to look forward too.
